3 New ‘Falcon and Winter Soldier’ Trailers Tease “Buddy Comedy” Action Vibe

The next big Marvel show is clearly a bromance. (In a good way!)

What is the greatest buddy-comedy-action-movie of all time? Is it48 Hours?Beverly Hills Cop? A movie that somehow does not starEddie Murphy? If Marvel and Disney have their way, it seems that they are hoping that you might addThe Falcon and the Winter Soldierto your list of beloved buddy-comedy-action flicks. Even though this is a six-part TV series (yesonlysixepisodes) series star, Sebastian Stan hopes that fans viewFalcon and Winter Soldierin the same way you think about your favorite ’80s and ’90s action flicks.

“It’s a throwback to all those buddy comedy action movies,” Stan says in a new featurette trailer forFalcon and Winter Soldier. “You just don’t know if they’re going to kill each other or not.”

Marvel and Disney+ have just released three new short-clips ahead of the launch ofThe Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and it looks likeexactlywhatAnthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan say it is: A straight-ahead action, an espionage TV show that forces Sam and Bucky into the greatest superhero partnership since…well…maybe ever? Here are the clips.

“Co-Workers”

Sebastian Stan and Anthony Mackie talk about giving each other a ton of shit on the set ofThe Falcon and the Winter Soldier. They also both appear to have some kind of exclusive contract with the sports-brand of activewear called “Under Armor.” Yeah, they’re rocking some Under Armor shirts in this video. Are the same of those things gonna skyrocket? (’70s argyle sweaters havenotmade a comeback post-WandaVision, so whatever.)

“The Big Three”

This is an actualclipfrom the show. Here, Bucky and Sam debate about wizards. Bucky makes a solid joke about having readThe Hobbitin 1937 when it first came out. That’s right! Bucky is from the olden days! He was frozen just like Captain America! His cultural references are all over the place! (Fun sidenote: The 1937 version ofThe Hobbitfeatures a very different version of Gollum than the version you’ll buy new a bookstore. In 1951, Tolkien revisedThe Hobbit, to make Gollum more menacing and more addicted to the Ring. Has Bucky readthatversion? (Also, spoiler alert: This scene is hilarious.)

“What’s the Plan?”

Okay, so this show looks legit hilarious. Bucky doesn’t want Sam to call him “Buck.” Nobody knows what’s going on. This is gonna be great.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldierdebuts on Disney+ on Friday, March 19.
